We're exploring some recent music today from the UK we might not ordinarily be drawn to: Nottingham's The Soundcarriers and a band it's sometimes ("lazily") compared to, London's Stereolab. The Soundcarriers are generally thought of as a "psych-pop" group, but have "krautrock" and jazz roots as well; Stereolab is described as an "avant pop" band with similar roots and features French singer/songwriter Laetitia Sadier. Both bands have been around for quite a while, though, and their musical styles have changed over the years. Here's The Soundcarriers' "The City Was," and Stereolab's "Aerial Troubles."
